National Air and Space Museum Collections Database
The National Air and Space Museum has more than 30,000 aviation and 9,000 space artifacts in its collection. Information on approximately 16,000 of those objects is available in this new Collections Database. Our goal is to provide for our visitors information on nearly all of the Museum's artifacts. The database is a work-in-progress, and new items will be added regularly. As we add to the database, artifact information elsewhere on the Museum site will remain (see below).
Artifacts of all types, ranging from large air- and spacecraft to smaller objects such as spacesuits and medals, can be found in the database. Included are two ways to access information:
Search for a Specific Object - Enter a keyword, such as object name or manufacturer, into the Quick Search box at left.
Browse Object Collections - Artifacts are categorized by subject matter, allowing for easy browsing. There are currently 18 different categories, accessible by clicking Object Collections at left.
